Despite facing numerous obstacles including the demoness Surasa and the shadow-catching Simhika, Hanuman successfully found Sita in the Ashoka Vatika, consoled her, and set Lanka ablaze before returning with news that filled Rama's heart with hope. Because this chapter is filled with courage triumphing over adversity, it is considered the most auspicious part of the Ramcharitmanas to recite during times of difficulty.
