Navgraha Shanti Puja is performed to pacify all nine planets simultaneously, reducing the negative effects of unfavorable planetary positions in a person's kundli.
Origin Story
According to the Puranas, when the Navagrahas were first established as celestial deities governing human destiny, they were placed under the authority of Lord Surya and blessed by Lord Brahma to influence the karmic results of every soul. Sage Vyasa and other rishis established the Navagraha worship tradition so that devotees could seek balance when any of these nine celestial forces created hardship in their lives.

Navgraha Avahan
All nine planetary deities are invoked in their respective positions around the mandap.
Mantra Jaap
Dedicated mantras for each of the nine grahas are chanted in sequence.
Havan
