Origin Story
During the great Samudra Manthan, the demon Swarbhanu disguised himself among the devas and drank a portion of the sacred Amrit. Lord Vishnu, in his Mohini form, discovered the deception and severed his head with the Sudarshan Chakra before the nectar could pass his throat. Since Swarbhanu had already consumed the Amrit, both parts remained immortal — the head became Rahu and the body became Ketu. These two shadow planets were granted a permanent place among the Navagrahas, but their placement in a kundli, encasing all other planets, came to be known as Kaal Sarp Dosh, believed to bring recurring struggles until pacified.
