Origin Story
The Puranas narrate that Rahu, then a humble disciple, once wished to obtain the sacred milk of Kamadhenu reserved only for Guru Brihaspati himself. Disguising his appearance to resemble his own guru, Rahu deceitfully drank the milk meant for Brihaspati. When the truth was revealed, the enraged Guru cursed him, declaring that Rahu's association with Guru's own planetary position would forever bring confusion and clouded judgment to those under its influence, since deceit had corrupted the sacred bond between disciple and teacher. This curse is believed to be the origin of Chandal Dosh in Vedic astrology.
