Origin Story
The Bhagwat Purana itself recounts how King Parikshit, cursed to die within seven days by a sage's son, chose to spend his final week not in fear but listening to this very katha from sage Suka, attaining complete spiritual liberation before his passing. Since Parikshit found ultimate peace through exactly seven days of listening with full devotion, the tradition of performing Bhagwat Katha over seven days (Saptah) continues to this day, believed to grant similar spiritual transformation to all who participate.
